A Soldier's Child Foundation was very busy in 2018. Here is what happened at ASC:
ASC teamed up with Operation Song: In March 2018, for our second Songwriting Camp. Six Nashville songwriters teamed up with our ASC kids to write and perform a song about their story. ASC teamed up with Operation Song again in May for our third Songwriting Camp and combined it with our PS23 Leadership Camp.
PS23 is a leadership program for ASC's young adults ages 17 and older. PS23 weekend is an annual 3-day leadership development retreat that focuses on Christian principles and values as it relates to the career path of our young adults. PS23 graduates are trained to help facilitate Journey Camp and serve as peer mentors.
Journey Camp: Was held at Deer Run Camps & Retreats in Thompson's Station, TN. Journey Camp is our week-long summer camp that embarks on a personal journey in pursuit of adventure, to build meaningful lifelong relationships with other ASC kids and mentors, and to seek inner healing and restoration.
ASC's inaugural Arts Camp: Was held in August at Camp Youth Incorporated in LaVergne, TN. At this camp our ASC children learned culinary arts, cake decorating, photography and pallet art. Thanks to the instructors that took the time out of their busy schedules to teach our ASC children these talents. This camp was so successful that it is on our schedule for 2019.
S.O.S. (Season of Sacrifice) Christmas: Was held on December 8th at Providence United Methodist Church in Mt. Juliet, TN and on December 15th at Francis Lewis High School in Fresh Meadows, NY. We began our S.O.S. Christmas program in 2018 to give back to the children and families of our servicemen and women, for they have sacrificed so much. With the love that the Christmas season offers and through your help these children now know that it did matter, and we do care!
So many of our kids have never attended our camps simply because they can't afford the travel. The camp itself is free, but the travel is something we do not have in our current budget. Would you consider becoming a monthly donor to get these kids to camp this year? We need you.
Please go to https://asoldierschild.org/donate to start your monthly giving or one-time gift communicating back to our kids "yes it did matter, I do care, and I will help you go to camp this year."
